Garrus bringing wine to Shepard's quarters caught my attention, beecause turians and humans can't eat the same food. According to the codex, "Although life on Palaven is carbon-based and oxygen-breathing, it is built on dextro-amino acids. This places the turians in a distinct minority on the galactic stage; the quarians are the only other sapient dextro-protein race. The food of humans, asari, or salarians (who evolved in levo-amino acid-based biospheres), will at best pass through turian systems without providing any nutrition. At worst, it will trigger an allergic reaction that can be fatal if not immediately treated."
Here I'd like to consider the wine is something "artificial", so both can drink. I'm no scientist, but I guess that if you can believe Cerberus resurrects Shepard, you can believe there some sort of technology that allows such a wine. IMO

And yes, this is a lame excuse to force Garrus to take his boots.

I should have known when I read this page the first time that there was a reason you displayed the food so prominently in the second panel.

It's heart-warming and funny to watch Shepard here from panel to panel. The way Garrus said he will fetch the wine glasses, her checking him out when his back was turned and then stopping herself, trying to suppress her feelings and knowing that drinking won't help and being frustrated at not wanting to refuse, and as she's still clutching the wine bottle that could affect her judgment, Garrus sitting down on the bed.
Her order to him made me grin, knowing why she was so curt with him for that one moment; Garrus, she was trying so hard NOT to be tempted by you. You're not helping...

There's another reason for Shepard to avoid alcohol which has to do with her past -not yet covered, but we will reach it eventually-, which adds a different dimension of her reticence to drink. Especially, wanting to supress her feelings towards her best friends, which she's scared of due to outcome of her previous relationships.

I hope not! There was some long debates on that along the comments, but I went for a way-out with the wine and pretended it was safe for both of them... Not sure how much realistic that is, but it's sci-fi after all...

You have to remember that sci-fi is basically your average fantasy story, but set in the future or in space. Usually both.
